The right time to back
Crash your wave, back, return with the next one.

« The perfect back is a simple formula: wave crashed, gold in your pocket, then B. Get the order wrong and your tower eats your farm. »
- Crash your wave
Your wave pushes into their tower. None of their minions is left walking toward your side.
- Back now, with gold
Step out of reach and back: 8 seconds, and a single hit cancels it. You have the gold for an item.
- Back with the next wave
You walk back in as the next waves meet in the middle. Minions lost while you were gone: zero.
- The classic mistake
You back while their wave walks to you: it crashes into your tower, your tower kills it, and every minion is gold you never get.
When to do it
- Your wave just crashed into their tower: the next minions take time to reach your side, so you lose almost nothing.
- You have the gold for an item or a component: backing turns it into stats right away.
- You're low on health or mana: better to back when you choose than to be chased out after the next trade.
How to keep it
- Push the wave first: kill it fast so it crashes into their tower.
- Back out of sight and out of reach: the recall takes 8 seconds, and any damage or step cancels it.
- Come back as the next wave arrives: you walk in just in time to farm it.
The tip for your rank
One habit: before you press B, look at the wave. If it's walking to your tower, push it first.
Plan your back one wave ahead: know the gold you need, and push the wave that gets you there.
Sync your back with your jungler's and the next objective: you all come back stronger at the same moment, with the wave coming to you.
