Farming under your tower
Sharing each minion with your tower, and finishing it.

« You and your tower make a fine double act: it does the heavy hitting, you take the final bow. Too early or too late, and it pockets the gold. »
- Melee: tower, tower, you
A melee minion under your tower: let the tower hit it twice. Now it's low enough: your hit finishes it.
- Caster: you, tower, you
A caster has less health: hit it once first, let the tower hit it once, then finish it.
- The cannon: wait until it's low
The cannon minion takes several tower shots. Wait until its health is low, then take it: it's worth more than the others.
- The classic mistake
Too early on the melee minion, then too late on the caster: both times the tower takes the last hit, and the gold with it.
When to do it
- The wave is pushing into your tower: you're behind, their jungler is around, or you just came back.
- You're up against a stronger lane: under your tower, you farm with its protection.
- Early in the game: the rhythms below work for most champions before their first items.
How to keep it
- Melee minion: let the tower hit it twice, then last hit.
- Caster minion: hit it once, let the tower hit it once, then last hit.
- Cannon minion: it takes several tower shots; finish it when it's low.
The tip for your rank
Start with the melee minions: two tower shots, then you. That alone saves a lot of gold.
Keep a spell for the minions whose rhythm you missed: an attack plus a spell finishes what an attack alone can't.
A clean farm under your tower keeps a hard lane even: you lose almost no gold while your opponent can't come close. Plan two minions ahead so none dies to the tower.
