The crossmap trade
Taking something elsewhere, not a lost fight.

« Can't win the dragon fight? Wonderful, the map has another side! Take a tower or their camps while they're busy, if it's worth about as much. »
- They're there first
All five of them are on the dragon before you. Walking in would be a fight you can't win.
- Skip the lost fight
Your team stops before the river and turns to the other side of the map, where nobody is waiting.
- Trade across the map
At the same time: they take the dragon, you take their top tower. They can't be in both places.
- Nobody leaves empty-handed
A tower against a dragon: the trade is even, and your team didn't lose a fight to get it.
- The classic mistake
You contest the lost dragon 4 v 5. You lose the fight, they take the dragon anyway, and you get nothing.
When to do it
- They're on the objective first: in numbers, with vision, before you.
- They're stronger right now: your team is a player down, or behind on items.
- Something is open on the other side: a tower nobody defends, the other objective, their camps.
How to keep it
- Decide early: as soon as you know you'll get there second, turn to the other side.
- Take it at the same time: while they're busy on their objective, they can't defend what you take.
- Pick something worth about as much: a tower, the objective on the other side, their jungle camps.
The tip for your rank
If they're already five on the dragon, don't go in: look at the minimap and hit the closest tower on the other side.
Decide with your team, early: ping the other side and go together. A tower taken by two beats four deaths at the dragon.
Trading well means never leaving empty-handed: every objective they take costs them something elsewhere on the map.
